Shed Unwanted Pounds With High Fiber Foods

If you want to be on the fast path to weight loss, you may have considered diet shakes, strict regimens, diet pills and other lose weight quick plans. Before you start popping pills, make sure you know what they may do to your body. Many diet pills come with complaints of causing heart issues, and others lead to anxiety disorders. Why take the risk when there is a more natural option.

The same results can be accomplished by eating more high-fiber foods.

Fiber comes with a long list of benefits. First, studies have shown that it gets to work to help your body increase good cholesterol levels and to lower bad cholesterol levels. In addition, fiber is like a long-lasting fuel. When you eat it and your body starts to digest it, you don?t just get a quick burst of energy and it?s all over. Instead fiber breaks down slowly giving a constant energy, and also keeps blood sugar levels regulated. Fiber also lets your body know you have eaten something substantial, and that you are full and don?t need to eat anymore.

In the book The F-Plan Diet by Audrey Eyton, there is a discussion about a process known as calorie excretion. The thought is that fiber can actually help your body get rid of excess calories. Fiber comes in two forms. Soluble fiber, which breaks down in water and turns into a gel substance in your body, which is found in foods such as fruit, beans and oats. That gel substance essentially is a sponge in your digestive system. It can suck in to it the extra calories that are waiting around to be absorbed, then take them with it as it works through the rest of your system and eventually is eliminated. It?s believed each gram of fiber will remove 7 calories from your body.

This opinion is backed by author and expert Brenda Watson in her book, The Fiber35 Diet. She calls this system ?The Fiber Flush Effect.? She says a great way to have weight loss is to stick with the expert?s recommendation of taking in 20-35 grams of fiber per day. Even better, stay on the high end and eat the 35 grams, and let each of them help your body remove an extra 7 calories.

The results are pretty simple math. If you eat 35 grams of fiber every day, and every gram takes 7 calories with it that comes out to 245 calories a day. If you add all those calories up at the end of the month, it?s over 7500 calories. That would be more than 2 pounds of weight lost just by eating fiber. If you follow the rest of your diet plan, you will see even more effective results.

While it may be tempting to try the so-called easy way out, of just taking a diet pill, you don?t really know what that will be doing to the inside of your body. With fiber you do. You know what it will be doing, and how it will help you lose weight, without any of the side effects that the pills may leave you with.
