Supermarket Selects Safefreight's GPS Fleet Management Solution for Food Logistics
Edmonton, AB (PRWEB) October 22, 2025 -- Sobeys, Inc. has chosen to implement Safefreight Technology's trailer temperature monitoring (http://www.safefreight.com/technology-by-application/refrigerated-trailer/) and GPS fleet management solution. Safefreight's Smartfleet? technology will be deployed on 90 trailers in the Sobeys fleet which delivers temperature sensitive food products to 189 retail store locations and 3 distribution centres in Western Canada. Sobeys now has the ability to track vehicles by location, audit inventory movement between distribution centres and store locations, and monitor up to three temperature zones within their refrigerated transport trailers.

In addition to temperature monitoring, Sobeys will also be monitoring the open/closed status of trailer doors to determine if temperature sensitive food shipments have been exposed to any potentially unsafe conditions en route. Food safety management practices in the transportation of agricultural and food products will enhance efforts to ensure the continued safety and security of those products.
The SmartFleet? diagnostic interface also provides Sobeys with fleet reports (http://www.safefreight.com/fleet-management-services/customized-reporting/) online that summarize important asset specific information including summaries for working hours and idling time, trip details, a stop/go activity report and vehicle history. These features will help Sobeys optimize the productivity of their fleet assets.
The value of the three year contract is approximately $290,000.
