Oopsy Daisy!

I’m so sorry. I know, posts and updates have been rather scarce -- oh, alright, near non-existent -- lately. But I’ve been busy ; crazy busy. Am currently involved in a few recipe and other food projects, and they have required a much greater time commitment than I had originally anticipated, intended or even thought I would have to give. However, they’ve also been such a joy -- almost an all consuming passion. But with these coming on top of my “regular life”, my days are threatening to burst at the seams. So, regretfully, something has to give; and that something has turned out, unintentionally as it may be, to be shiokadelicious.

It’s not that I’ve given up on the blog (as some of you have written to ask), and no, it’s most definitely not that I’m ignoring you. Oh no, of course not. You know I won’t do that, right? And no, most certainly, this blog is not dead!

In fact, there are so many dishes I have been wanting to tell you about. I’ve been on a spicy kick of late -- lots of cooking, lots of spicy cooking! (Yes, there still has been a little bit of baking too, but not much. I think I did at least a few months’ worth in the run-up to Chinese New Year!) Oh, how I want to share the Indian-Malay-Moroccan-inspired spicy chicken I came up with on the spur of the moment (it turned out really well!). Then there are all the kormas and rendangs I have been cooking recently. I’m also going through an agar-agar phase -- an old favorite from my childhood but a food that I haven’t paid much attention to for a long while, and which I have been revisiting a lot lately. It’s amazing the wondrous permutations and creative variations one can do with one single, very simple ingredient! It’s been oh so much fun! Yes, there are lots and lots to tell, but not the time, nor the energy, to do so.

So unfortunately, updates will be sporadic at best. Maybe I will be able to sneak in a few posts here and there (I’ll do my best, as and when my energy permits), but if I don’t manage to, and if I disappear for a while, you know where I’m at. Thank you for your patience!

Hi Renee,

Ok, we will all wait patiently (and eagerly) for your food posts.

And yes! Some agar-agar posts, please! I used to eat agar agar everyday as a dessert after lunch. EVERYDAY!!! The fruit shop guy, of course, would give me preferential treatment by taking out the coldest piece for me.

And, spicy food posts, too, please!

Anyway, we are all waiting, and waiting, and waiting.....;)

*slurp* I can't wait for you to post about the rendang and kormas! Been looking around for recipes of currys, rendang etc. Will wait for your post ;-) And definitely cant wait for CNY baked yummies!

You take care and don't worry, we will all miss you very very much. I am sure you will get very itchy ear or itchy nose or even sneezes (from people missing you) these few weeks! *hugs*

Hi Renee,

I am so glad I stumbled upon your blog/site - it's so interesting. Love your comments. :) I used to live in Singapore and really miss the wonderful food; so I was so thrilled to see the pictures (which are so clear and makes my mouth water :)). Thanks so much for the wonderful recepies, can't wait to try them out - hope I can find some of those ingredients over here in Maryland, USA.
