Digital Dish -- Shiokadelicious! In Print!
Ta-da! It’s finally out! Fresh from the printers!
Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you…
For nine months, this creation has been carefully and lovingly nurtured by Owen and a bunch of us food bloggers (with Owen doing most of the hard-work… and enduring all the labor pains
). Now it is here. And like all proud parents, we want to share our joy.
This inaugural publication from Owen’s publishing company, Press For Change, highlights a collection of blog entries that were written over five seasons (2004-2005) by a group of us food bloggers.
For those who have been reading and following this blog, my ever-popular char siew recipe (yes, the one that has been mentioned and discussed in numerous eGullet threads) is one of the several shiokadelicious! recipes included in the book. So, yes, you can now have a proper printed version of the recipe to keep.
There are also many more recipes from around the world -- traversing different cultures, presenting assorted tastes and showcasing ingredients of diverse geographies.
You know, when we first started discussing this book project last year, there were only a few dozen food blogs around. Now, less than a year on, there has been an explosion of food sites; there are literally hundreds of us passionate food writers out there now, delivering a daily menu of gastronomic, saliva-inducing pictures, stories and recipes, fresh from the oven and stove, right into the comfort of your own homes.
There’s so many of us now that it’s hard to keep track. I’m sure you have the same problem. Wouldn’t it be great to have a yearly compendium of some of these great food writings and recipes? Well, you can help make it happen… this is what you need to do : please support this first, inaugural issue of Digital Dish… make it a raging success… show us how much you love reading food blogs… and then, we can make the next one happen. (No, this is not arm-twisting… just gentle cajoling
)
But seriously, if each of you buy just one copy (of course, we’ll be even more thrilled if you buy more and give them as gifts to friends and family who may have yet to be introduced to the wondrous world of food blogs) you’ll be making us wondrously happy and proud.
So, here’s how you do it…
For readers resident in the US:
For International readers:
Just click on the appropriate button (there are permanent ones on my side menu bar too) and you’ll be taken to a secured PayPal payment page. The book is US$19.95. US orders pay US$5 shipping (plus sales tax for Californian residents). Canadian and International orders pay US$11 shipping. The books will be shipped direct to you.
Of course, you could easily order the book from Amazon, but… if you finalize your order through the buttons on this site, a greater proportion of the book’s sale price will go to Press For Change (and thus helping us to realize the dream of a yearly issue of Digital Dish). Plus, you’ll also be helping to support my blog. ![]()
OK, what are you waiting for? Get clickin’…
In case you’ll like to find out a little more about the book and which blogs are included before placing your order, click here.
Let me thank you in advance for your support. It means a lot!
On a separate and unrelated note, my sincere apologies for the dearth of updates and my deafening silence. I can’t believe it’s been over two months since my last post! I’m terribly embarrassed. But life has truly been crazily hectic. I do promise to come back soon (I know, I know, I keep saying that… but I do mean it ; the heart is willing, the spirit is determined, but the body is… well, just plain tired… and time has been anything but generous and cooperative).
However, I’m sure I’ll get my act together at some point and return with fresh perspectives, ideas and more inspired and not-so-inspired adventures in the kitchen.
Meantime, I beg further patience and understanding.
Take care, all! Miss you much!
